The Young Children's Community is a warm, home like environment that provides a secure and nurturing start for independent walkers to 3 year olds, to begin the journey of learning by doing.
In our YCC the very young child begins to work on their independence from day one, through learning to take off and put on their shoes alone; setting up and clearing the lunch area and making choices on what work activities they would like to undertake. Children in the YCC community also begin to set their own limits; manage conflict and learn to live socially among their peers.
Language is a huge part of the YCC community children. Children come in to this community with a few words, through modeling by adults, reading and diverse language activities, they begin to communicate their emotions, wants and dislikes in a peaceful and effective manner, using language in a positive and effective way.
The YCC serves as the first and unarguably most important phase of a Montessori Child’s natural development into a productive, fulfilled adult who will contribute to the world.
